Fantastic Application for Any Student
Update from 07/12/2015
This company is fantastic, there is an issue with this app with OSX El Capitan, however if you go to the Essential Anatomy 5 Support link on this page they have instructions to fix it until they are able to patch it. Once again, after another year I highoy recommend you get this app!
This is an awesome app for learning your anatomy, especially if you need to for muscles and bones! Even with the in app purchases it is significantly cheaper than a textbook (and I use it significantly more than my texts). It is 5/5 in its current state. However, there are a couple of things that I would love to see in future updates:
- More detail when it comes to the urogenital, digestive, and respiratory systems. The current amount is good, but I don’t feel that it is at the same level as the other systems in this app.
- The ability to view only specific parts of the body. For example, I haven’t found a fast way to look at (for example) the left arm. An option to examine extremities by themself without all the other structures in the way (or having to go through and hide them all which is time consuming) would be very helpful. It could look exactly like structures do when you choose to isolate them, just with the entire extremity/head/torso.
- An option to view different “levels” of the nerves and vessels. Often when studying I don’t initially need every single nerve. Setting it up in a similar fashion to the muscles in which you could show (inherently arbitrarily decided) the “big important nerves” and subsequently add more and more in a similar fashion to how the muscles are layered would be helpful visually.
Overall this is a fantastic app and I highly recommend buying it over an anatomy text book if you are looking for a resource for a class or human dissection lab.
