Fantastic Application for Any Student

Update from 07/12/2015 This company is fantastic, there is an issue with this app with OSX El Capitan, however if you go to the Essential Anatomy 5 Support link on this page they have instructions to fix it until they are able to patch it. Once again, after another year I highoy recommend you get this app! This is an awesome app for learning your anatomy, especially if you need to for muscles and bones! Even with the in app purchases it is significantly cheaper than a textbook (and I use it significantly more than my texts). It is 5/5 in its current state. However, there are a couple of things that I would love to see in future updates: - More detail when it comes to the urogenital, digestive, and respiratory systems. The current amount is good, but I don’t feel that it is at the same level as the other systems in this app. - The ability to view only specific parts of the body. For example, I haven’t found a fast way to look at (for example) the left arm. An option to examine extremities by themself without all the other structures in the way (or having to go through and hide them all which is time consuming) would be very helpful. It could look exactly like structures do when you choose to isolate them, just with the entire extremity/head/torso. - An option to view different “levels” of the nerves and vessels. Often when studying I don’t initially need every single nerve. Setting it up in a similar fashion to the muscles in which you could show (inherently arbitrarily decided) the “big important nerves” and subsequently add more and more in a similar fashion to how the muscles are layered would be helpful visually. Overall this is a fantastic app and I highly recommend buying it over an anatomy text book if you are looking for a resource for a class or human dissection lab.

DOESNT OPEN

Someone needs to fix this. People have been reporting that it is not opening or working anymore and we should either get a full refund or a free update.

anatomy and physiology

best thing ever mainly for my anatomy and physiolgy class. i use it more than my textbook. the 3D allows me to visualize everything well. especially helpful in learning all the names of blood vessels, muscles and bones. you can hide parts of organs or muscles or anything to see what is inside or underneath. anything you can click on comes with descriptions.. you can make your own notes in the program.. it is really just amazing!

Constantly crashes with OS X 10.10

Superb!!!!

I think visible body apps can only say WOW!! seeing this one…why? it is all about visual experiance for me. This app looks amazing on retina displays. All visible body apps are not retina compatible and look just horrible!! buy this one and you won’t regret …I assure you!!!

Great app!

One of the best medical apps I’ve ever had! But, please, add peritoneum! It is the essential thing in abdominal surgery approach! I hope that one day you will release general surgery app with all 3d staff, It would be gorgeous!

Attention!!!

Do non work after instal OS X Capitan.

very good start, just something still missing

Very good 3d models, very precise, its really helpful for those medicine students who are learning the connection between bones, muscles and ligaments, but also for teachers to show students some good views to describe the various systems! every part is very accurate and comes also with a brief description which i found useful. nerves and vessels very good too! 4 stars because youre still missing the organs of abdomen and pelvis and their vascularization and innervation which is an important part that i think you should introduce to make it the best anatomy app ever!

Great until Yosemite

This app needs updating, it was great in Mavericks. Its crippled in Yosemite. Perfect…right in time for a major exam.

Crashes at Launch on Yosemite

Need to uninstall and reinstall in Yosemite if upgrading from Mavericks, otherwise the app crashes.

Yosemite support coming soon

I wrote to the developer on October 17 & very quickly got this back. I’m not sure what’s happening on Apple’s side, but the hang-up is apparently with Apple not 3d4Medical. Kudos to the developer for their responsiveness to my email. "Yes, weve already submitted the update to Apple, and are just waiting for them to approve and release. Depending on their approval process, it should be within the next few days. Ill be sure to notify you when the download is available on the Mac App Store. Kind regards, Nicola Noonan” The app itself is fantastic — I’m falling in love with the study of anatomy & find the visualizations in Essential Anatomy incredibly helpful in assimilating and internalizing the learning. Not clear from the app store by the way, is that while you have to buy the app separately for Mac or iOS, the iOS version for the iPad will also work on iPhone (the 6+ may be big enough to make this viable).

Please update for OS X Yosemite

Originally, this app was fast and incredible for studying anatomy. After updating to Yosemite, I can no longer access the main menu to organ systems on the right side, and my performance has been greatly diminished. Please update to correct errors! Will increase rating when the issue is resolved.

Great App for Medical Students

Just performed this update and everything is working perfectly! on Yosemite. I’m a medical student and this app is an invaluable resource to refer to after anatomy lectures. I’ve bought the skeletal expansion pack and that has also helped with little parts of the facial and cranial bones. Really recommend this to anyone taking an anatomy class!

Bone Detail Lame

Just started using the app minutes ago, and I don’t have the level of detail on the carpals needed to study for my Human Osteology course. In this course we need to side carpal and identify muscle attachment sites. This app has cartoonish rounded carpals and bone features in general. I have yet to use the full set of features.

LOVE this app, and now compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite!

This application is truly essential for the first year medical student. Helps with visualization of structure location, great info about innervation and blood supply for every muscle.

The best for patient education

This app is amazing for educating my patients to their impairments and treatment choices. I was very happy with how quickly the developer provided the update for Yosemite. It works perfectly again.

Great App

This app is really helpful when you need to memorize structures fast. Probably would not have survived laboratory exams without this. Had problems when I updated to Yosemite, but now it’s back to normal. Customer support is really good; they even sent me an email informing me that the update was online.

Great for Dissection Class

This app is extremely helpful for memorizing the origin, insertion, action, innervation, and blood vessels associated with each muscle. I have also used this app to understand where muscles are located in the body and, combined with actual pictures of cadavers and open dissection labs, it is an invaluable tool. The dissection class I am taking would much more difficult without this app, and it is well worth the money for a class where understanding the positions of the muscles is critical.
